Dental Exams & Routine Checkups
Why Are Regular Dental Exams Important?
Even with great brushing and flossing, plaque and bacteria can accumulate in areas your toothbrush can’t reach. Routine dental exams help:
- Detect cavities and gum disease early
- Prevent tooth loss and costly treatments
- Monitor existing dental restorations
- Evaluate risks for oral cancer, jaw disorders, and bite problems
Early detection saves teeth and money. Small issues are easier—and less expensive—to treat when caught early.
How Often Should I See the Dentist?
We generally recommend exams every six months. However, we may suggest more frequent visits if you:
- Smoke or use tobacco
- Are pregnant
- Have diabetes
- Have a history of cavities or gum disease
- Are undergoing orthodontic treatment
Your smile is unique—your care schedule should be, too.
What to Expect During Your Dental Exam
Your preventive visit includes:
- A comprehensive dental cleaning (prophylaxis)
- Plaque and tartar removal
- Screening for tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer
- Evaluation of your bite and jaw alignment
- Digital X-rays (only if clinically necessary)
- Personalized hygiene and dietary guidance
We encourage you to bring any questions or concerns—we’re here to educate, not judge.
